Santorini

Of course, it is already known that in Santorini is plenty to see and experience. Caldera, Fira, Oia with the famous sunset, the remains of the highly preserved prehistoric settlement in Akrotiri, ancient and newer monuments, important museums such as the Archaeological Museum and the Naval Museum, the characteristic architecture of the cave houses, the wineries, the gastronomy, the beaches, its magnificent unique landscape.
We present you in brief the most important destinations on the island of Santorini that you should not miss to visit.

Fira
Just a walk in the narrow streets of the island's capital with its white houses and breathtaking views of the Caldera will make forget about enerything. Feel the city's centuries-old history! Visit the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, the Archaeological Museum of Thira and the Gyzi Palace. Enjoy your meal and have a coffee or drink overlooking the Caldera.

Oia
Of course, you cannot leave the island without visiting Oia, with its famous sunset! Walk through the ruins of the Byzantine Castle and enjoy the sunset with stunning views of the Caldera. Visit the Maritime Museum and take a stroll through the city.

Ancient Thera
Kamari was the port of Ancient Thira. Ancient Thira is a lesser visited archaeological site of Santorini, but equally important and fascinating. It is worth going up to the steep slope of the mountain with the 16 hairpin turns, on foot (about 1 hour) or by car, to visit the archaeological site at the top with panoramic views of the island and the sea.

Akrotiri
The famous archaeological site of Akrotiri is one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean. It dates back to the Bronze Age and was destroyed by a powerful earthquake. The ashes from the volcanic eruption that followed covered the whole island and the city itself and protected the buildings and their contents, as in Pompeii, so today we can see the buildings almost as they were in prehistoric times.

Old and New Kameni
Another must destination on the island of Santorini, Palea and Nea Kameni, the two active volcanic islands in the middle of Caldera. There are boats that make the journey to these islands many times a day from the Old Port of Fira. In Nea Kammeni you can climb to the top of the volcano, see the active crater and walk to its edge. In Palea Kammeni you can swim in the sea with the underwater hot springs.

Museums
In Santorini there are several interesting museums worth visiting. In Fira you will find the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, the Archaeological Museum of Thira, the Gyzi Palace and the Folklore Museum. In Oia you will visit the Maritime Museum and in Messaria the Argyros Mansion.

Wine Tours
Santorini is known for its wine. Thanks to its fertile volcanic soil its taste is truly unique. On the island you will find to buy the famous wine, but you will also have the opportunity to experience the production process in one… or more, of the dozens of wineries.
